Ten years. Six retrievals. Two thousand pages. The numbers behind one journey — and the reason Genova exists.
Genova was started by Nicole Gertner, an infertility patient who spent 10 years on this journey as a "mystery" patient — a label that meant no clear diagnosis, no clear answers, and no sense of control over one of the most consequential processes of her life.
Over the course of that decade, she went through 6 egg retrievals, produced over 60 eggs, and navigated 8 pregnancies between herself and her 3 surrogates — resulting in only 2 live births. Along the way, she accumulated over 2,000 pages of medical documents spread across clinics, labs, and providers — and still couldn't get a straight answer to simple questions about her own care.
Genova exists because no patient should have to become their own data analyst to understand their fertility journey.
No clinic should be forced to operate on fragmented, inaccessible records when better infrastructure is possible. And no researcher should lack the standardized, longitudinal data needed to drive real breakthroughs in reproductive medicine.
